Welcome to the web pages of Lee Thomason!

Web pages are a wonderful opportunity for creativity and sharing, but tricky to keep up to date. So some of this is new, and some is old, and it's all just here. Enjoy its strange journey through information and time.

Bio

I'm a professional software architect who works in San Francisco. I'm happily married, and enjoy rock climbing, swimming, photography, kites, and experimenting in software. The latter has lead to being the creator and maintainer of a couple open source projects: an A* pathfinder called MicroPather and the popular XML parser TinyXml.

Work

For a while there, I was writing video games for Berkeley Systems. A wonderful place to work, with some incredibly talented people. But I got a case of wanderlust, so I took off to work for 3DO writing Playstation games. (Specifically Army Men Air Attack.) But dropped-in-my-lap-out-of-the-sky opportunity came up to go to work for a startup, Middlesoft, where I did secret start up stuff. We were bought by Macromedia and Macromedia was bought by Adobe. I've done many jobs for Macromedia/Adobe, but primarily am the Flash Player Architect. (Or as some people call me, the "Flash Player Guy".)

Flash is incredibly exciting. We're getting ready to release version 10, and we still surprise our customers and ourselves with what we are creating. I'm very proud of the team and what we are doing.

Resume

My resume. I believe in one page resumes.

Grinning Lizard

Grinning Lizard is a place for experiments, open source projects, and at one point was a software company. Almost everything I program is for work, of course, but it is fun to play around without the constraints of a schedule or testing. Check out projects for the results of some of that experimentation.

I have archived the web pages from Grinning Lizard's earlier incarnation in a sort of virtual museum, and of course this includes info and screen shots of the video game, "Bug Eyed Monsters from Outer Space."

Art

I also archive my artwork here (although it has not been updated in a long time.) Enjoy! A couple of pieces - "ecstasy" and "gargoyle" - are quite popular judging from my web logs.
